Our local newspaper has a tiny section for "cool websites" to check out and this is one I decided to pull up. I feel as if I hit the jackpot!!! I am a book addict, I must always have a book to read, as well as a pile (or two) of books yet to be read. When the pile gets low I get uneasy. Odd...yes...but it is an addiction I am pleased to have. I have been an avid reader since I was very young.
I have two wonderful daughters! I can honestly say they are my best friends. My eldest, 20, shares my addiction. We can be found in bookstores looking ridiculous because we both love the smell of a new book. She is a junior at the University of Florida. Go Gators! I am in complete denial that she has left and have decided not to face it until further notice. Denial is a wonderful thing. If you have ever read the book "I Will Love You Forever" be assured the mom in the book is me. I already have the ladder picked out to use in order to reach the dorm room window....just to say goodnight.
My youngest is a sophomore at The Univerisity of Sourth Florida. She is just starting to show signs of the "addiction". After reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult she was hooked. She is beginning to appreciate the smell of a new book. Soon all three of us can look ridiculous together. I look forward to watching a passion for written work to blossom within her. Denial is working well here too... she graduated a year early so I wasn't prepared. Are we ever
I am a Reading teacher at our local high school (grades 10-12). I have a strong passion for helping students find the joy in reading. It can be a challenge but when that lightbulb goes off, it is magic. I am hoping to get each student to begin a shelf here.
I am always on the prowl for books to add to my stack....any suggestions are welcomed.
