I live to make art... I write when art isn't enough... I find there's no end to the books I want to read...

I told myself I wasn't going to buy any new books this year. It lasted in the middle of the first week in January!

So far, they are all used books and not new releases. I may have to use my Amazon gift card and perhaps look at what is coming out that I want to buy new. New is such a luxury to me ;)

don't i know that research pile. hang in there. btw oktobterfest is not a national holiday, it's merely something beer-inclined bavarians think they must have. ;)

You can come anytime for kräftskiva! (I absolutely love them!) You seem to know a bit about Sweden.
The invitation will be delivered as soon as I've recived the invitation to go to Hawaii! :D

The summer house is not mine (at least not yet), it has been in my family on my mothers side for generations. But it is my favourite place in the world. Perfect spot for reading! I usually sit at the wooden porch, looking over the bay of the small lake, watching the osprey hunt and the beaver swimming to its own little part of the bay. And if I have something nice and old in the glass; it is the perfect evening :)

I've spent some time at my summer house - reading constantly. But unfortunatley, I did not have any whiskey nearby. Which one did you like best; Tomatin or Tomintoul? None of them seem to be easy to find in Sweden though.

For paper books - that is really cheap. You'd have to pay almost the double price for a paperbook in Sweden. Regarding whiskey; Sweden puts a hell of a lot of tax on alcohol, so it would be hard to compare :)

To be honest, the only thing that's kept me from reading the rest of the Reynolds books is money. I will get back around to him at some point.

I ran off the end of the Harrington's I had available, and though I've picked up the last couple now, I thought I'd give some of the other stuff on my kindle a go for a bit, first. Especially since, if I finish those two, there isn't another one available until later in the year. ;-)

Reading your comments made me thirsty for whiskey :). But unfortunatley, there are all in a box somewhere, since we've just moved to a new house.
I don't know what I paid for my bottle - since I got it. I don't know what the dollar is worth compared to a swedish crown nowadays, but it does sounds a bit expensive. Glad that you did not disliked it though.

    Oban is nice! Enjoy..

I thinks it's great you do things out of your head (from your imagination). I feel there's too much of the opposite out there; too many artists using images to mimic, or distort, but using that image as the basis. Dali fascinates me, as does Kandinsky's not so geometric works. Glad to hear you're fairing well in your endeavor. For this reason, I'd love to keep in touch and periodically communicate, as we've been doing. Those of us in the arts must stick together. I know I rarely find passionate writers or artists out here in San Diego. It was much easier in that aspect when I was living in LA.

Ha ha... I hear you. Yeah, I can imagine how expensive it gets. Since my preferences are different from your style, and it's not big surprise, I'm glad you're into sticking with your own style. The last thing you need to be doing painting/creating stuff that you're not into. I know I'm the same way about my writing. Have you put up a Facebook page with your art? Not that you're necessarily into social networking your art.... Just curious.

To be honest, I have a thing for cityscapes. Just love them, though I have an incredibly hard time finding any that are worth their salt artistically. Other than that I like oils - deep, earthy colors, with thick brush strokes, like much of Van Gogh's work. I'm into textures. I hate poppy modern art, and most contemporary art. I suppose in that way I'm a traditionalist. The other reason I have a hard time finding compatible art is because (and you won't be surprised at this), many budding artists overprice their work. But that's just the biz I suppose. Any images you want to send my way would be great. Let me know if you need an email address.
