I've never tried to create a book, sorry, so I'm not familiar with the type of problems that can occur. The Librarians don't have any special tools for creating books, we just use the same process as everyone else. If there's a bug then that's something that Shelfari will have to address... Amanda does read the posts in L&E, so hopefully she'll get involved.

Of course I don't think less of you! I find it so fascinating when people read the same book and get something different out of it. Here's my thoughts:

I understand what you mean about Katniss being "the girl on fire" and I think we see a bit of that in the start when she finally gets behind the war effort in District 13. But then I think she starts to reallly understand and see for herself what war has brought to the districts and to the lives of those who support her. When she could just think in terms of herself and what she wanted to see happen to the Capitol it was easier being "the girl on fire" but once things got really ugly it affected her deeply to the point of nearly breaking her. With all that happened to her and those she loved in this book I can see how she became broken.

I see what you're saying about hoping for some big moment when we see who she chooses and why. I think I saw through the course of the book that Gale's impact on her life was changing. They didn't always see eye to eye anymore and even he couldn't break through her shell. There are a number of times he refers to her only kissing him when he's in pain and how he can't measure up for her. I saw it as a more subtle way of signalling the end of his role as a romantic partner. And in the end, as battered, bruised and broken as Katniss was I wouldn't have liked for her to declare her love loudly. That's not the place that she was left in at the end. It would have been forcing emotions she wasn't capable of at that time. It was a dark book and I didn't think a romantic HEA would have worked for me. (Although I do agree that Gale's possible role in Prim's death was a bit convenient to fully push him out of the picture.)

Snow's death didn't bother me. I think he helped show Katniss that she was being manipulated by Coin. Snow never lied to her. Sure he was awful but no more awful than any other Capital leader. Coin lied, manipulated and used Katniss just for her own ends. I think the contrast between the two was the significant part.

The only problem I had with the book was Finnick's death. I couldn't believe he'd leave Annie in the first place. Then for him to die and it not get any special mention bothered me. I had to go back and re-read to make sure he really died in the sewers with a bunch of minor characters. She just breezed over it.

Anyway, those are my long and winding thoughts!! :)

I saw your post that you didn't like Mockingjay very much. Your the first person I've seen that hasn't given it high marks. Curious to hear what didn't work for you. I've read it (and loved it) so don't worry about ruining anything for me with your reply.

I made a mistake. I approved your separation of an edition of Orwell's Animal Farm which has the cover for Koontz's The Servants of Twilight.

Because Shelfari cannot "read" pictures and the edition label (cannot be revised) for that editions is Animal Farm, it needs to be put back into the Orwell combined version. Otherwise, Koontz' book will show on any search for Animal Farm.

This is an Amazon issue and Shelfari is working for a solution. This isn't the only Amazon edition with an incorrect cover.

Will you please do a separation on the Koonz book to put it back into Orwell's book?

Sorry for my mistake and for asking you to do more work!
