I LOVE LOVE LOVE books! I can easily spend hours upon hours in a bookstore or library. I'm open to reading anything and everything and love to share what I've read with others. I definitely have a love affair with British Lit and adore Shakespeare.

  • The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

I really don't know what to say about this book. Some portions I would give 2 stars...other parts 5 stars. There were moments when I felt this is a fantastic work of American Literature, and other moments when I struggled with dry, boring, long bits of information that served no purpose in the whole scheme of things. I will say, that from the point when Edgar runs away, I was hooked and couldn't put the book down until finished. I adore the relationship between Edgar and Almondine. I also really enjoyed the character of Henry, and his brief appearance. I applaud Wroblewski's talent, and I look forward to future works.

I really loved this book, and I'm sure I'll read it more again in the future. It's impossible not to fall in love with Marguerite and Percy. I never judge a book by it's cover, but I often times will by the first few opening lines. This book has a fabulous first paragraph (I appreciate it as a reader...and envy it as a writer), and it only gets better!

Quoting from W. Somerset Maugham (referring to Austen), "Nothing very much happens in her books, and yet, when you come to the bottom of a page, you eagerly trun it to learn what will happen next. Nothing very much does and again you eagerly turn the page. The novelist who has the power to achieve this has the most precious gift a novelist can possess."

Wow, this may be the first time these words are coming out of my mouth, but I loved the movie so much more than the book. This is a rare exception to the rule of movies (based on books) being disappointing. A "so-so" book, yet a very lovely movie.

This book will always be on my "I'm reading" list, as I tend to pick it up often to get my Neruda "fix." Amazing poet...

This was my first Danielle Steel. I read it my Jr. year in high school, and it got me hooked on her books for the next couple years. She's the only one in the romance genre that I ever really got into. Her books are light and fluffy...a good break from reality. Although, I haven't read anything by her in quite a few years.

The McNally books are the perfect light, fast, fun, vacation read. It's been a while for me to remember if I enjoyed one over the other.

Beautiful! One of the best last paragraphs of any book.
