He wrote A Town Like Alicew which made into a black and white film about WW2 and the Japanese soldiers etc. Did he also write No Highway? I have a feeling that that book was one of his. O may be wrong but if so, I have read both and liked both.

I always have to revisit the old Univeral Monster movies during October - they just don't make horror movies like that anymore. My baby is doing great - she's on the verge of walking without holding on to anything - and we are having a blast with her for her first Halloween.

during the hallowen season i love to read scary books. one of the best is something wicked this way comes/ ray bradbury. i am reading jonathan strange & mr. norrrell/susanna clarke . it is about magic in the 18th century. neil gaiman,s the graveyard book is also good. happy halloween and spooky reading to all.

Hi, Kristal--you've beed tagged! You have an incredible shelf--I read lots of children's books and young adult since I work in an elementary school and I never think to add these to my shelf! I loved Olive's Ocean and anything by Beverly Cleary. I see that in addition to reading you lead a very busy life with a family and THREE dogs! I am planning on reading The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein this month on the recommendation of a friend. Have you read The Tale of Desperaux by Kate Dicamillo?

Thanks Sweet Home Alabama. I am thinking of reading Tarka the Otter by Williamson for the tag. I think I read Watership Down a long time ago. My list for this month is pretty long already but iit is a book that is always intriging and I often wonder if I read it.
