I am reading Bitterblue which is the continuation to Graceling from Kristin Cashore. She also wrote one with Fire on the title. It was really good. The one I am reading is getting better. I also got Lost Souls which is book 4 from Cassandra Clare's series.

    Hey Melanie!
So nice to you in person. Sorry I left abruptly. You guys were about to get slammed anyway. You and your brother are super sweet. I hope to see you guys again someday. I remembered that a book I read and loved past month is called The Everafter. It played into my sensibilities. Please feel free to contact me anytime. :)

OK, I am shamed! I wanted to read more during break but between the kids and some visits I read only 2 books!!!! OMG Well, I have to say I loved the Love, Star Girl book way more than the first. Mockingjay is awesome. I think I am going to pick up What the Dickens! next. Hope you had a good holiday :)

I love Vonnegut but I have to be in the mood for him. He writes a lot of truth wrapped in crazy and interesting stories. Maybe try By Bye Little Bridie first which is a collection of short stories and will give you a taste. I also liked Cat's Cradle and the one I am reading now, Slaughterhouse Five is not bad. I started Clockwork Angel and, now matter how much I tried to slow down and not read it all fast, I could not :( It was great. I am a big fan of her writing. I really can relate with the Stargirl character in Love, Stargirl. It is cute and light with a deeper message. I am working teaching chemistry at a community college. It gives me more freedom and we can do food-chemistry laboratories which are fun. Like last week we measured and studied the chemistry of pop corn :) . I think soem days they have fun and others they just want to go home. You know how it is :D I think that as long as you are reading, life is good. No matter if it serious or light. ^-^ I really was amazed by a book you posted on your shelf, Going Bovine. I LOVED it!! It was very insightful and relaxing to read. I could not stop reading it, it took it with me at lunch and got it dirty :) Did you read Blindness by Saramago? That is the most haunting book I have EVER read.

I read the Hunger Games and Catching Fire a while ago, they are awesome! I just ordered MockingJay for my present :) I have been into Kurt Vonnegut this semester. I like his dark self deprecating humor. I also finished Linger from Maggie Stievater, they are not good as The City of Bones, The City of Ashes or Angel clockwork from Clare. I am going to read Lament from Stievater. I am also listening to Stargirl and Love, Stargirl from Spinelli. I changed jobs so I have more time to play with the kids and read which makes me a very happy human. I also have one called What the Dickens from Maguire and I hope it is good. I like reading one serious and a few light to keep me even ^-^ Ah, I forgot I also love Kathy Reich's novels, they are the inspiration for a science detective show called Bones. If you like who done it with a twist they are for you. You are the only one in my list of friends that is still active in shelfari. I have friends, they just are not as passionate about reading as I am. Hope to hear from you soon, have a coquito for me!

I understand. Hey I have another for your list, it is called Hunger Games. I kept putting it off for one reason or another but now I cannot stop reading it. I want to know what happens bad. My prayers are with you so you kick butt in the UPR.

Melanie, I LOVE Dave Sedaris. He is best if you listen to his books since he reads them himself. My favorite is the one you are reading now and his last one. When you are engulfed in flames.

Feeling much better, Thanks!! Hey, I was going to write to you yesterday and had your shelfari page open. At that moment, a student walked in my office. He says to me ," Who is that? (pointing at your picture) She is very pretty!" I just thought you might like to know that. ;) You have some gringo over here asking for your info! :) I did not give away anything by the way!

Thanks Melanie, you are so sweet! I am sure I will be ok. It just takes time. You need to read that book(the Alice one), it still haunts me. to think Alice in Wonderland has been one of my favorites for so ling and I did not know the truth behind it. Right now I am listening to Love by Toni Morrisson and reading Dead and Alive by Koontz at night. Maybe that is why I am getting horrible nightmares ;) Mental note: change books for before bed! I will look into the books you are mentioning. Hope your UPR semester is going well.
