I am a wife, mother, and student who enjoys reading fiction and non-fiction books about South Asia. I am also building my shelf with books on Guyana, South America. Guyana, otherwise known as El Dorado, is the place of my birth. Why India and Guyana? Well, I am one of the rarest Indians you will find. Guyana has a large Indian population... more »

Hi Beenzzz, My name is Moin and I am from the same root as you are. My edlers are from Jaipoor and I was born in Karachi, Pakistan and lived most of my life in the United States. In other words i really dont know where I belong now. I really like your read and unread books and in fact I came across some book on your shelf that I really wanted to read for long time and I am little by little doing it. You know the hectic pace of life these days, like they say "or bhee ghum hain zamane main mohabbat ke siwa", there are rather important things in life than reading to worry about on a daily basis.
Any way, it is nice to know some one from the same roots and hope to hear from you a few words.
Nice pic by the way. take care.

    Hi Beenzzz,

Your comment about being the "forgotten Indians" seems to be very much true.

Reading about the immigration waves in Story Wallah - and some of the stories in the same book - gave me some appreciation about the Indians in Caribbean.

Of course the numerous Indian-origin members of the West Indies Cricket team over time do bring up some discussion about the migrations once in a while.....

Hi Beenzz, I recently read "Story Wallah: Short Fiction from South Asia". It's on my shelf tagged as "short stories". It was an interesting mix of stories by authors hailing from the indian subcontinent and the indian diaspora. There were a few interesting pieces from Trinidad and the West Indies. Not exactly Guyana I guess, but close enough ;-)) Check the book out if you havent already. Best wishes, bookchica
