I am a full time student studying adult nursing.
I'm really quite addicted to books - reading them and owning them. I can quite happily spend hours in a book store just browsing, and love to talk to anyone who will engage in a conversation about books and literature.
My other hobbies include cooking, gardening, cycling and... more »

And a most noble profession you are joining Becca. I hope they treat you well. I needed a fair bit of hospital treatment these past couple of years and generally thought the staff were extremely helpful. And very overworked :( And definitely under-appreciated, not only in terms of pay :(( Teachers and nurses deserve a better deal. I'll stop there, before I start going on and on...

Yes I kept finding reading groups full in the real world. I much prefer the flexibility of shelfari, and we generally have quite an amiable crowd on here. Good luck with the dissertation :)

Fun valentine topic you started, though I've not posted to it yet. Popped on to say I seem to have a very irrational view that you are quite a thirsty shelfari user ;-) Happy reading!

I loved it. I'm so glad that I read your post and picked it up and read it myself. Have you read the third one yet? I just started it.

Nice eclectic collection of books on your shelf! Reading, cooking, gardening and cycling, very impressive. I have the same interests and follow them all avidly. Good luck on the 50 book challenge, I tried that last year, but fell short. Life just got in the way. I am thinking that I will try that again next year. Have a great day!

think I may have started a bit late on my shelf! but will try and remember. I used to keep every book I had ever read but leading a life where I moved house approx every 18 months and my book collection was yet another thing to pack I started to give them away. I do understand why people would want to keep their books though but now I am perfectly happy to have a note of everything I have read stored for me on Amazon.

Lots of books!, great selection too. I thought about adding all the books I've read but have probably forgotten at least 2/3rds of them but I will upload all the titles I have read in the past year.

Rebecca, here is another book I think you would really enjoy, also suggested by my friend Leigh. "The Voluptuous Delights of Peanut Butter and Jam" by Lauren Liebenberg another South African writer who also writes descriptively. I am 1/2 way through and really liking the story.

It is a photo where I merged parts of the books cover, after scanning it into a photo format with one of my photographs, creating a fairy environment. I sent it to Leigh. If you want to send me your e-mail I will send it to you.

I am only about 40 pages in but love the writing style and story. What an imagination this author has. I was fooling around with the cover of the book and one of my photos and came up with a really interesting photo.

I just started the book, it was recommended by another shelfari friend Leigh, she is from Johannesburg, you should check out her page from my friends list, she has some interesting books listed, she mainly read books on Africa. She said Gem Squash Tokoloshe was the saddest book she had read all year. I will let you know what I think.

    Hmmm, I wrote 2 U,

Approximately 3 weeks ago....I have yet received an answer: Please, can U, at least, answer me, letting me jnow, that all is well with U? Asw I said, I missed U, and very much. U know me, well, if not, let me see, when someone is my "Friend!" Then, they,
are my friends, no matter if I met them, at McDonald's; or on shelfari! I am concerned, I have not heard from U, or saw U on-line, in ages, Just drop me a line, letting me know, that U are Ok!

    Jas!

    I miss U much....my "Friend!"

I like your shelf and really appreciate yopur reviews. I also like the variety of books on your shelf that are not common to my shelf. I will definitely check back to your shelf when I am ready to select my next read!

Based on your shelf, I'd highly recommend anything by David Mitchell, but my favorites are "Cloud Atlas," "Black Swan Green," and "The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet."
    Pura vida,
    Jeff
