    AUGUST 2009 RELEASE
URCHIN SOCIETY (The Memoirs of a Black Panther Cub)

Alprentice David Emory Davis, Releases New Memoir Discussing growing up as a child of a Black Panther Leader, and discovering his family’s lineage as slaves on Confederate President Jefferson Davis’ Plantation.

“I was born in Queens, New York, on August 12, 1970. My Father (Robert "Big" Bay) was sent to NY to represent the Party's leadership after the BBP 21 and the New York leadership were indicted, in turn being responsible for BBP affiliates on the entire eastern seaboard of the United States. He served as Huey P. Newton’s top advisor and point man on the east coast. Named after BPP Hierarchy "Alprentice (Bunchy) Carter, "David Hilliard" and Emory Douglass", Davis has felt a sense of obligation to the cause. After the FBI successfully launched the (COINTELPRO), their “Assassin’s Creed” for eliminating the Black Panther’s leaders, an entire nation of children became the collateral damage of J. Edgar Hoover’s poor domestic policy.”

] – April -Aug , 2009: Former United States Navy Petty Officer, Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield Veteran and respected New York City Youth Community Organizer, is promoting his new book, scheduled for release in August of 2009. In his book “URCHIN SOCIETY” (America’s Gift To Urban America) Alprentice tells what is was like growing up in a house with parents who wanted to bring “CHANGE” to the government, before change was accepted. In the 1970’s Alprentice David Emory Davis, grew up as a child of parents - considered social/community activists and entrepreneurs. Was their path to entrepreneurial parenting by default or by conscious choice? At a time when association with The Black Panther Party could mean life in jail or a death sentence, how does one raise politics, social ideology, enterprise and family all under one roof? In his upcoming book, URCHIN SOCIETY: America’s Gift to Urban America - Mr. Davis discusses his experiences and what it was like growing up; as a “Black Panther Cub”. The book is scheduled to be released by iUNIVERSE Publishing House and is available through www.iuniverse.com. The book will also be made available at www.barnesandnoble.com and www.alprenticebooks.webstoresondemand.com .

“URCHIN SOCIETY” is a memoir of an interesting life of a child who grew up in a family of social activists and leaders of the Black Revolution. Alprentice tackles socially taboo subjects like, Reaganomics, The State of Hip-Hop Today, Race, Crime and Punishment as well as America’s Role in Drug trafficking. Alprentice also explores his athletic back round and discusses community building and running a youth based program in New York City on a shoe string budget. Mr. Davis is giving exclusive interviews to all forms of media while on tour, and is open to discuss issues closely related to his book on record.

"Urchin Society gives a clinic on Slavery, Hip-Hop and Politics and serves as our generation's guide through the Reaganomics era"

Khalil Almustafa - Author and 2002 Nuyorican Grand Slam Champion, and author of "Growing Up Hip-Hop". 2008

Alprentice is in the middle of a promotional tour, meeting and greeting book stores, public officials, making speaking engagements from state to state, as well as attending black literary events throughout the country before the book’s release.

    Hello,
Let me formally introduce myself, my name is Harriet and i am trying to start an African American library in my town of Jackson, TN for teenagers and young adults to keep them off of the streets and reading books. So far we have about 70 book and about 30 teenagers and young adults so the books have been read really fast. I would like to know if you would like to donate any african american fiction and nonfiction books that you would like to get rid of. We are trying to expand and need more books but can't afford them right now because we only have a handful of people doing this project. If you are interested in donating any books to us please feel free to email me back at your convenience and I will send you the address for the books to be shipped to. If you send them or not I would like to thank you in advance just for taking the time to read this email and see our concern. God bless you and gave a great day.

    Sincerely
    Harriet
