I'm a published author; my picture is the cover art to my novel, Sister Light: Book One: Of Shadows. I work full time as well as tend to my writing. I'm married to a wonderful man, and I have two small dogs. I love books of all genres, as one can see by my shelf. I have a really bad tendency to not remember novelists' names that I've read,... more »

An exceptionally unique tale. John Taylor, a seemingly unremarkable detective, is hired to track down a runaway. Taylor has a gift for finding things - at least, he does if he's not searching for them in this world. John Taylor's specialty in finding things lies only in a shadowy underground world called "The Nightside".
A world where all the decadence, sin and decay a person can't find in the real world, the Nightside is shrouded in perpetual moonlight and is Taylor's home; it's also the same home where people are trying to kill him for reasons even he doesn't know or understand. When a simple runaway case turns into a much more sinister and complicated matter, John is left pushing his gift of finding things to the limit. The only problem is, he may have found more than he ever intended.

A great story that is half-Sam Spade and half-Alice in Wonderland, this British author has a unique voice. Each twist and turn the author presents in the story does not have the results the readers typically expects. Green also hints enough at an intersting subplot with his lead character without giving too much away that keeps the reader going. I've recently picked up several copies in this series, and I can't wait to get started on the next. If you like a good detective story, especially one with a supernatural twist, you'll enjoy Something From The Nightside.

Again my weakness for the crime detective Familiar - um, who also happens to be a cat - has let me polish off yet another novel in this author's series. Familiar is set on the path of clearing a man of a double homicide, a woman and his friend and her small infant. Stumbling upon a dastardly plan of kidnapping, Familiar and his humanoids track down the clues to the woman's real murderer.

A playful, if predictable, storyline, I admit an affinity for this crime fighting cat. To be assured, there is a happily ever after at the end of the story, but the whimsical writing of the feline's POV is enough to keep me satisfied for an hour or two of easy escape. Famiiar is certainly one of my favorite storylines, and I always go out of my way to pick up one of these books while at the local secondhand store...actually, my bookstore owner actively keeps an eye peeled for me!

Fun, playful, and lighthearted...this is a fun read, as always.

One of the most haunting love stories I've ever read! I know I should have gotten around to reading it before now, but I haven't...oy am I glad I decided to add it to my current read-cycle!

Thoroughly enoyable books that began as simple childhood whimsy and grew as the charcters did, developing into more complex and dark themed novels that still retained the whimsy the reader first fell in love with. Well done!

I was loaned this book by a friend who had fallen in love with Midnight Louie after scrounging him out of a garage-sale bin. After reading reviews online at how great a series it was, I took it as a good sign (personal and online referral! bonus), and now I wish I hadn't. After struggling through the first three chapters of ambiguous reference to past books, and wading through a jumble of characters, I was left with a throbbing headache and doubt in my friend's reading choices.

However, the online reviews (and, yes, my friend's as well) continue to tout the prowess of this penmaster, so I'm going to give Midnight Louie another shot to entice me (I mean, just look at my shelf...I LOVE feline detectives), but this time I'm going to play it smart and start from book one...hoping the library has book one. It's a shame though that the books couldn't be a little more self-sufficient and stand alone...Too many other references without enough follow-through details for me, however.

I'll post updated reviews for the first book once I rent it. Then maybe my attitude about 'Cat in a Neon Nightmare' may change. Ah, live and learn I suppose...not all books can be so independent in a series. :)

Thought I liked 'No Humans Involved'? Well, I am loving this book! It shows the dark side of power and how the heroine struggles with it while dealing with the dangers and difficulties of her world. Great sex, good writing, and believeable characters. Reading this at the same time as 'No Humans Involved' and either novel is solid enough to stand alone, but they play off each other's plotlines as well, weaving depth! Becoming a favorite series fast!

Definitely has become a fave now that I've finished it. I recommend this novel if you're looking for a strong female lead and a fun writing style.

So far this is a good read. Easy enough to read out of order (the library didn't have them all) and highly entertaining! I am even reading a second book in the same series at the same time, and there is no confusion. These are great stand alone books, but I can clearly see how they play off each other. Strong female leads, strong masculine leads, with just enough sex to spice the storyline. These could become "devourable" in a short time for me!

Just finished this book and another in the series; both books are great with strong female leads and a distinct writing style. I will certainly be picking up more books in this series and from this author.

I have a soft spot for my "old lady" as my husband puts it whether she's on the telly or between the covers of a boook. This story doesn't fail. It had everything you've come to love from the television series.

Very much like watching the series, this book has heart, a great play between Booth and ones, and an intriguing mystery. A very enjoyable read...now I'm off to watch the show, too!

A chilling glimpse at our own society as it has become since Bradbury wrote the work. Truly makes one wonder if Bradbury possessed an "other sense" or if the evils of today's world were so obviously destined even then. My hope is that this startling mirror of our society is the only thing permanent there is, or are we railroaded onto the same path as Bradbury foresaw half a century ago?
