What would it have been like to live through the devastation of the Bubonic Plague? The Plague ultimately killed one fouth of the population of Europe and arrived late (1666) to England, the location of this historical novel. Told in the first person, Anna Frith relates the horrors heaped on her village as first the villagers ty to cope with a quarantine and later as they beleive witchcraft is responsible. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. FIC BRO

This is a tale that takes a young American back to the Netherlands to discover the story of his grandfather who was killed there in World War II. The story moves from present day to the past and there is a twist. Well written and readable. It may make you want to visit the Netherlands. PB CHAMBEERS

Susie views her family from heaven. You see, she was murdered when she was 14 years old in the corn field behind her house by a freaky neighbor. Now, in heaven Susie can see how her family deals with her death, the empty spot she left behind. This is not about religion but reality, it is a secular heaven. Enxcellent book. It will grab you. Westerfeld has an amazing imagination. Here he has a different twist on the vampire novel. Rather futuristic, spread of a parasite, and a romance. Plenty of action. FIC WES

A combination of novel and philosophy this story of a totalitarian state in 1984. In 1984 we were just beginning to work with computers and now it would be so easy for this futuristic state to exist. Beware. Fascinating book. FIC ORW

Fantasy/mythology in the real world - where does reality end and where does fantasy begin? The lines are unclear. The story of Shadow, wrapped in world mythology, is exciting and action packed. It is one of Gaiman's most exciting books. There is a sequel - Anansi Boys. PB GAIMAN

This is one of the great fantasy books by a master of the genre. All three books are included in this new volume. New fantasy readers will love this series about harpists in an ancient Gaelic world. FIC MCK
