Jodi Picoult books are pretty good, some are better than others. 'The Pact' is a good book, all of her books are fast reads and tend to have a twist to the end of the story. This one answers the question, "What would you (people) do for love?". Of all her books, 'My Sister's Keeper' is my favorite.

Miyazaki did all of the art and music for the movie but the story line is based off of the book. you should read it. It's awesome.

yeah. Calcifer's such a cool little guy. I love the movie, but I liked the book even more! there were so many little details that you pick up in the book that you couldn't get from the movie. but they're both great works of art.

Have you read Neil Gaiman before? "Neverwhere" was my introduction to Neil Gaiman and I've been hooked ever since. Personally, I feel like "American Gods" is his magnum opus, but "Neverwhere is a great place to start! Every Neil Gaiman novel is slightly different, but definitely worth your time!

Sorry about the previous post - it was in response to another member, but do read it. As for Neverwhere, if you are into fantasy, you'll definitely like it. Neil Gaiman at his best.

Yes, I definitely recommend The Book Thief. For a change, it's an account of the horrors of the holocaust from the perspective of a young German girl and her adoptive family. The meta narrative comes, interestingly, through the voice of "Death"! I found the narrative technique fascinating. Happy reading!

Hi, there is the continuing theme of a tangled love story running throughout the novel, there are a lot of references to war, death and murders etc.
I think the idea of the story is mainly the Rhett / Scarlett romance but of course the war and other historical information is there to highlight the time it is set in.
But no it is NOT predominantly just a story of war though it is always there in the background to some extent and there are some light moments and just general description of life in the deep south.
Maybe you can luk up a website on the novel or read a few chapters and see how you feel about it?
    Hope this helps.
    Take care.
    Ria.

Hi in response to your book recommendation, yes i would definitely recommend reading Gone with the wind but i think you have to enjoy the period of history it is set in as it gets very political and descriptive at times about the historical climate.
The story itself is good though.
    Happy reading.

I also recommend "The Princess Bride." It is a wonderfully written book full of humor and interesting plots. If you've seen the movie and liked it, then you would probably love the book.

I would most definitely recommend " The Princess Bride". The movie is great but more of a comedy.
