Bart,Have you read any Ian Rankins before? I like his books and have read three or four. I also like the TV series 'Rebus' - have you seen it? Have you already read the latest Dan Brown? I'm reading it at the moment, but as it is the hardback edition, it's too heavy and big to be read in bed, so I'm going slowly...Pirjo
Hi Bart! I noticed that you've read Arto Paasilinna's 'Wonderful Mass suicide'. Did you like it? Paasilinna is a Finnish writer who is quite popular in many European countries - sometimes even more popular than in his own country...You've also read Minette Walters' s 'The Chameleon's Shadow'. I bought it from Amazon.uk a couple of weeks ago, but haven't started, yet. Was it typical Walters? I have liked many of her books very much, because of the plot but also because of the psychological eye she has on humans and their actions.Ian McEwan's Saturday kept me reading for one whole Saturday - it was so intense that I couldn't stop! I liked it more than Atonement. How about you?
Hi Bart, nice to have you as a friend! About Finnish thriller writers: There are at least a few known in other countries, too, like Ilkka Remes, Matti Rönkä and Leena Lehtolainen. Rönkä is quite popular in Germany, so if you can read in German, you can get to know his style. Ilkka Remes writes very international bestselling thrillers where the people are Finnish but the scene is often in Moscow or elsewhere in Europe, too. Leena Lehtolainen has been translated in many languages, and her heroine is a female police detective Maria Kallio. Hope you find some of them in your languages. Happy reading!
Hi there! We have 83 books in common, most of them thrillers. I gladly noticed a Brother Gadfael among them - I really like them even though I'm an atheist myself... I also like Donna Leon, Sara Paretsky, Minette Walters, Ruth Rendell, Reginald Hill etc.Do you read your books in English? Can you recommend a Belgian thriller available in English? Scandianavian thrillers are very popular in Finland, too, but do you know any Finnish crime writers?
Dag Bart, ik zag dat wij een mooie gevarieerde selectie boeken delen: Donna Leon én Eugène Atget bvb. Vriendelijke groeten van een andere Belg
