By the way....I thought I was the only person to ever sit down and STUDY The More With Less Cookbook, and more than once or twice!!! I bought the original version back in the late 70s I think...it was a long time ago and I still have it, althought it's quite worn. I was also a member of a WONDERFUL Mennonite Church in PA...but if you read my profile, you'll see I didn't stay in one place too long. I've longed for another church family and church like that one!!! One of my favorite dishes to make to take to those who had surgery, had a baby, etc is the Six Layer Dish. Everyone loves it!!! My daughter learned to cook using that cookbook! It's in my kitchen right next to the only cookbook my Grandnother owned so she wrote ALL her other recipes inside that one.....many family favorites in that book!!!

The book is actually everything and more than I expected. I will be starting Chap 17 when I retire in just a few....the last chapter was about "Romancing the Brick Walls" and all he had to climb over while trying to encourage Jai to join him in Pittsburgh. When it first came out, I read about it and found it to be a great gift for graduations, birthdays, etc and every single younger person I know had one now. I've had some great feedback from them...and thought maybe I should read it myself instead of reading around it as I do with many books....just chapters here and there. Remonds me of "tuesdays with morrie"....have you read that? It's a book about an old college professor dying, but the book is really about living! VERY GOOD!!! I bought about 20 new books (all hardback and brand new) from the local thrift shop today.....they only charge 75¢ a book regardless if hardback or paperback and I prefer hardbacks. I go about every 3 weeks and find any where from 15 to 30 books when I go. I take my lists and shop away!!! What a book lovers paradise and very few people know about it...and the best part is the proceeds go to The Children's Home which is an orphanage so I always give more than the bill! I seldom have to look elsewhere for books I want.

What are you reading now? Tell me about it? I have several to pick from, but I do believe I'm going to read something light next and read a myuster/thriller for a change. I've been reading Life Lesson's books all summer.

Greetings Meg: Thanks for adding me as a friend. I saw your web site...very nice. I was especially drawn to many recipes you have...YUM!!! Always looking for something different especially since I'm a hum-drum cook, but a super great baker! I wish I was a better cook, but I just don't have the talent or gift or whatever it takes.

Back to books....I looks forward to reading sevearal of your favorites. I read The Chosen AGES ago and forgotten all about it. Then it made me remember A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. I want to re-read both of them now as I so much loved them both when I read them the first time.

In the meantime, back to The Last Lecture!!! So much time outside in the summer leaves less time for reading.....that will change so very soon!!!

Hi, Meg. I’m the author of The Sandal Maker, a new novel about the public ministry of Jesus from a unique point of view. A story will take you on a fascinating journey in first century Galilee. A “must read” for those on a spiritual quest. You can read reviews at Amazon.com. I’m including here the publisher's notes. Let me know what you think.

    Book Description:
Caleb, an elderly Jew, leaves the safety of his home in Cana on a mission to find a man he believes is in Jerusalem. Miriam, Caleb’s only remaining child, accompanies him disguised as a boy. In the desolation of the war struck Galilean countryside, father and daughter risk their lives to journey south on the Jordan River trail. As they walk, Caleb intrigues Miriam with a captivating story of his youth that will change her future destiny. A story of a time forty years prior when he became a sandal maker in order to observe a man some called the Miracle Worker. Caleb secretly kept notes of the events he saw and heard as he followed the crowds. With his objective, skeptical point of view, he reveals the fascinating ministry of the one he called the “Master.” Heart pounding perils and the threat of death endanger the two travelers, but nothing could foretell the fate awaiting them in Jerusalem!

    From the Publisher
    A. Michaelson's new novel, The Sandal Maker, takes the reader on a fascinating journey back to the year 70 A.D. in worn torn Palestine. The author creatively weaves two stories together, one in the present, the other in the past. Heartwarming, enlightening and tragic, The Sandal Maker paints a portrait of one man's life and his involvement in how the gospel came to be.

Oh! Maybe they did. I didn't read all of the ones they did because I was at college for some of it.

I am so sorry to imply anything of a negative nature. You read more difficult books than I do, and I just wondered what you read at say, the beach, you know, for fun?
