Our ground-breaking is next month. Yes they have a typing test One must type, with accuracy, five records in five minutes. I did four and a half with absolute accuracy but the first requirement is to finish all five. I am very computer savvy but, like you stated, typing isn't the same issue with computers. I just want to work there part-time to supplement my SS.

I forgot to answer your question about Steve Berry. I don't actually have the new book yet. I just placed it on my 'Wish List' shelf. I am envious that you saw him in person. I have only seen 4 authors in person. Clive Cussler, JA Jance, Barry Eisler and Ann Rule.

They are hiring here as well as building a brand new library. I am presently in the middle of the testing phase. I passed the first test easily and moved on to the second test. Unfortunately, that is the only one that I am worried about. It happens to be the typing test. I'm afraid that I am a two-fingered typist. I have never mastered typing and I even took the class in high school. The one good thing that came out of that class is that's where I met the girl who has been my wife for 42 years. I am 65 years old and I can't see myself becoming a typist after all these years. I failed the test the first time, and I can't take it again for 30 days. It's been 60 days and they haven't called me back. Hmmm.

We have yet another thing in common. I am presently being considered for part-time employment at the library.

One reason is because we have close to 100 books in common.

Thanks for telling us about the James And The Giant Peach audio book. I'd love to hear Roald Dahl read it. I'm going to look for this and listen to it with the grandkids.
Or maybe I can find audio of Danny the Champion of the World which we haven't read (they haven't made into a movie) and which I loved.

Hey, I've read Water for Elephants and loved it! Passed it on and the recipient loved it too! Will try and get Garden Spells. It is just so hard to find a good author and even then the books differ - I liked Kite Runner but didn't enjoy his next one. I loved The Lovely Bones and the next one was awful. So it's a real "crap" shoot. Did you read Jan Karon's latest "Home to Holly Springs". Very good follow up to her series and I know your Mom would like it. I really appreciate you're input on this site and will try and find my way around it and find new and good authors. Thanks, Sarah

I was so delighted that I could easily add books by hovering over titles in other folks' shelves!
I'm glad you like my picture--I have Sadie tucked under one arm, little brother William under the other. I believe we're reading THE POLAR EXPRESS. Happy, happy times.
I'm not surprised about FIVE DYSFUNCTIONS--we have so many books in common--and have rated many the same, too!

Thank you! Someone posted a wholesale invitation to an e-list discussion. How could I refuse? I couldn't!
I can't remember where I found you. "A mind is a terrible thing to lose." ;-} Then I looked at your bookshelf and found so many books that I like--and I liked your friendly intro.

I just joined today and haven't had time to work on my profile. I don't have time to even here, but what's an avid reader to do?!
I live on a ranch about 2 hours NW of San Antonio, TX. I prefer mystery/suspence/thriller, but also love general fiction. I have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren--ages 2-11. I love reading them to, too! All four enjoy it as much as I do--even Sadie who reads in bed every night just like I do! Isn't it fun?!

Yes, it'll be good to start with the first Reacher tale: THE KILLING FLOOR

And get acquainted with Elvis Cloe via Crais's THE MONKEY'S RAINCOAT

We read many fo the same books, Barbara! I recommend Thomas Perry's Jane Whitefield mysteries beginning with *Vanishing Act*. Also see if you like Lee Child's Jack Reacher myster/suspense novels and Robert Crais's Elvis Cole & Joe Pike novels.
    Best regards, Diana
