I own more books than I can read.... But then, I've only lived a rather short time, and an even smaller portion of that time has been devoted to reading. Pity I didn't learn sooner, though I tried everything I could to learn before school.
All the books listed here are books I own, plus some that Shelfari couldn't identify (Mostly French books). The books in my TBR tag are really all to be read.
I just put books on my Top 10 lists. Fine, there are more than 10, but there's nothing I can do about that! :-)
Two quotes that describe me well:
"When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library." (from
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen) I may not have the house yet, but I sure as heck am working on the library part!
"There are 10,000 books in my library and it will keep growing until I die. This has exasperated my daughters, amused my friends and baffled my account. If i had not picked up this habit in the library long ago, I would have more money in the bank today; I would not be richer." (by Pete Hamill). Unlike Mr. Hamill, I myself own only over 300 books, but the idea is the same. The money I spend on books, I consider an investment. I've started to learn to let go, though, and I've joined Bookmooch to exchange some of my books, mostly those I wasn't too impressed by.
What else would be interesting to know about me... I like all genres, as can be witnessed from my shelf, though I do have a soft spot for mysteries. Big fan of Agatha Christie! I'm a teacher; I teach English as a second language at the high school level. My first language is French, and I've been taking German classes for some time (which explains the French and German books on my shelf!)
