Hey! Check your yahoo account for directions to book club on Thursday. I can't get the email through to your other account, I've tried it several times now. Hope to see you on Thursday. Wendy
hey jennifer, it looks like i'm not going to make it tonight, i've just decided. i've subbed today and will tomorrow and have a big day at the gallery on sat and haven't finished the book. oh well. i'll talk to you soon.
hey jennifer, have you finished green dolphin? andwhat did you think?
Hello Jennifer! Kelly and I have found a temporary home at the Liberty House Lofts in downtown Bham. So far we're really enjoying it! The move was hell, but it's done now! How's Green Dolphin? I went to the Booksmith yesterday and they didn't have it, guess I'll head to the library this weekend. Hope to see you soon, Alfred
I have not read or seen Atonement. I am trying to read the Shack because my girlfriend sent it and it really helped her see God in a relational way. I just can't get that deep right now, and you have to be in the right place to read a book like that. Tell me what you think of it. I am curious if those of us who already have a relationship with God view it different than those who have a "religious" view of God.
Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana are the leads and I think the movie comes out this month (Nov.) I look on IMdB.com a lot for information about movies, but it also has info about books that are being made into movies. I don't let poor movies ruin a book for me, and I have come to realize very few adaptations have the same "feel" to them as the book has usually given me. I take for what it is, another person's adaptation of the material. Just like the Secret Life of Bees, for me it felt very much like the book, except for the sisters ages it felt like they really got the feeling right in that movie.
have you read Time Travelers wife yet? I am hoping the movie is well done and am getting excited to see it.
Hey! How are you? Sorry I haven't written, we finally have the kids back in school and now i can think straight! Central FL is great, Fay went over us but i bet it hit you fairly well. I did see part of the movie the MKD on Lifetime and it was as cheesey as I felt the novel was. I just listened to it on an audio book while i drove to Miami. I am glad I didn't read it, I wouldn't have wanted those characters in my head for any length of time. But I did just finish a great novel, the Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. It was very good. I also reread this summer, my favorite novel of all time, The Eight, by Katherine Neville. Now I am going to settle in with a book that i have been looking for for over 15 years that I once read in college, it is called Landscape of Lies and I can't wait!! I bought it on Abebooks.com, which is a great site. I got 5 hard cover books for a dollar each with about 3.50 for shipping and handling each. What a deal! I never by hardbacks, they are too expensive. I only want my favorites in hardback. Hope all is well! What are you reading?
Hey Jennifer! Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you... I actually haven't read Mississippi Sissy yet, but for some reason, while I was working at the store, I always came across it and picked it up and made a mental note that it seemed read-worthy. Perhaps it's due to a deep love for a few "Mississippi Sissies" I have in my own life. :) I'll definitely let you know what I think when I get to it! And though I was very sad to leave the Booksmith, I'll still be around there! I'm not too far. Hope all is well with you!
No, haven't read Sessums yet, gave up on the Count and just finished Red Helmet by Homer Hickam of Rocket Boys fame. It was an entertaining easy read. Just stared Suite Francaise--see you at TMC book club!
hey, i missed it too. i also did not read the book. i have been busy reading more contemporary books with less girth. hope i see you next time.
The discussion for On Chesil Beach was actually great, I thought. One of the more involved ones, as everyone seemed to have an opinion - one way or the other. So far, I am loving The Count and is one of those that I have a hard time putting down. I hope you can join us in June.
Hey, we have missed you at book club, hopefully, you can make it back for The Count in June and July.
Hope you've been able to find Chesil Beach! You can read it in an evening - it's quite short, but is an amazing book. I liked Into the Wild, but not as well as Into Thin Air. Into Thin Air is one of the best "Outdoor Adventure" books I've ever read; Into the Wild was interesting to me, primarily because it discusses wanderlust, and the naivete, that often fuels adventure.
