It's not sweet, pretty or anything enjoyable like that. Despite what people may think about it (the book being YA and everything), it's a rather serious read. Very thought-provoking.
The book itself fills you with inexplicable desperation and heaviness while you're reading it; but in certain moments when it radiates light of hope you gasp as if been oxygen-deprived for a long period of time. That, at least, how it was for me.
Katniss, I think, has become one of my all-time favourite heroines. Her strength, her ability to pull herself together when she could've broke down completely and stood aside always amazes me.
Thank goodness for no HEA. Because it's what real life like: no need to sugarcoat it.
Last but no least, (spoiler) hooray for Katniss staying with Peeta. Because canon always wins.

This one is my big favourite in the series now.
I must say that this book fascinated me to no end. At first it dragged on and I was even bored at times, because there were too much details, etc, although I was clearly interested in the outcome. But the ending just left me crying with bittersweet tears, and it's been a long time since I've cried like that while reading a book. The whole of it now finally takes shape in my mind and becomes more and more beautiful.
The ending may prove to be sad for someone or even unsatisfactory, but strangely the book filled me with more hope than I had in months. It's so much more than just a fantasy.
