A hoarder since my first childhood books but in a foolish move I sold off about half of my collection before a move from Boston to California in 1996 and have regretted it ever since. I read and buy history books mostly now. I must read 10 non-fiction to every fiction book.

Great background for a trip I recently took to England, Can't wait to read the second volume. One of the best historical novels in recent history. If you liked this one try Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Chronicles

If you're old enough to remember the 1960's you'll love this book. It give a day by day glimpse into the season following the Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals leading up to the World Series. I actually drank with a few of these people back in the 70's when the bar was called Dicken's. Moehringer captures the underlying sadness of drinking and the east coast bar culture with wit and compassion. It brought me back to the my childhood days with my father and friends spending a beautiful day inside the dark mahogany womb of a saloon.

Wonderful tales that remind me of my childhood, any parents with children should make sure Bradbury is included in their child's summer reading.
