A hoarder since my first childhood books but in a foolish move I sold off about half of my collection before a move from Boston to California in 1996 and have regretted it ever since. I read and buy history books mostly now. I must read 10 non-fiction to every fiction book.
Just for the hell of it here goes, some of my favorite music in no... more »

Oh! I just saw your note on my wall (is that what it's called here??) regarding Imajica. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll move it to the top of my to-read pile. (^_^)

Oh, I am having the same problem here: too many books at hand but too slow and too distracted. Haha...
I just had vacation on east coast: New England area, Boston, New York City. I spent my first year in America in New England area. I have visited the two cities a couple of times. I am surely a city girl. They are my favorite places plus CA. Weather here is unbeatable and I am spoiled...

Sorry I did not answer your comment about ECW. I am working up a third ECW wargame army. I have 600 figures painted up and am attempting to write a fast set of rules for them. I also have a 200 figure army in 1/72 plastic figures and 600 un painted NAvigator figures to paint up.

I have tons of AMERICAN Civil War books I am getting rid of. Lynne my wife and I visitied Oakland two or three years ago for a convention for gamers. We loved it. But guess living there and visiting are two quite different things. IF you want to see what I do with the results of reading and getting published (I have a number of rule sets out) go to http://www.classicalhack.com.

Look forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely,
    Phil

Oh the Dune series are extremely beautiful and profound. I'm very nostalgic about them. There is a certain undefined, and yet enchanting quality about them. Maybe it has to do grossly with the setting, the desert. They are deeply moving, quite heartbreaking, very clever (the work of a genius, I daresay), but at the same time promoting the essential humanity. And "God Emperor" happens to be my favorite of the series. I'm sure you'll find them utterly rewarding. Take care!

Sorry about the extended delay in response. I have atkinson's second book sitting on my shelf in the (soon) to be read section. I just read an advanced reading copy of Steven Pressfield's new book, Killing Rommel, about a British Long Range Desert Patrol in North Africa, a little lighter than his ancient world fiction, but still excellent. I would definitely recommend.
