aww hate to hear that! i havent been on for a while but just started coming back on the site recently
hey there, you still use this site?
Jamie, Hi!I'm reading Beastly at the moment and quite enjoying it, actually, although I do agree with some of your comments. Kyle/Adrian is totally painful at the start, but what I like about the book is his personal growth as the world reveals itself to him. Plus his sad relationship with his father moves me. At the moment I'd probably give it 4 stars. Must admit I've seen the movie trailer and that has made the book come alive a bit more. I don't normally do that - see movie or trailer first - and the plot is slightly altered to fit the movie situation. I haven't read a sex scene yet. I doubt very much that it will upset me!!!!!!! LOLHowz life with you? Your little girl must be 3 by now, yes? My boys are growing up soooo fast, one nearly 15 and one nearly 11. Where do the years go???? I'll be in the pine box before you know it! LOLHappy reading,F :)
Thanks, Jamie. :-) Hope you're still enjoying the Bookworms group. I was also promoted as an admin in a different - extremely busy - group, so I know I'll have a ton of work over there. So, unfortunately, getting out of a few other groups will not free up time to read more, but will more likely mean that time will be devoted to the groups I admin. Happy New Year (if I can still say that 5 days into it!)!
Hi Jamie! Thanks for the friend request! Came at a good time, too, as I'm planning to leave the Bookworms group. I just wanted to finish out the year. :-( It's a fun group, but it's gotten so busy and I'm already in quite a few busy groups (and I admin a few groups, as well). I decided something needed to go. I will miss some of the people, though. I have a few already as friends, and some others are in other groups with me, too, so that's good.
Thanks for accepting my friend request Jamie, have a great day. :)
That's great news (about your husband's tour ending soon.) Don't worry we will probably do another swap in 2011 but it will be a while, maybe mid-year.
I'll take care of it. I gather you're not signing up for the new swap then? How are you?
Great-I assumed as much but it is nice to be sure we are on good terms.
Hi Jamie,Have you read Number the Stars yet? I tried The Giver (twice, actually) but just couldn't' get into it. Is this one worthwhile?F :)Hope all is well with you, by the way! Hubby home? Mine went away last week after ages home because of the earthquakes. I'm nervous with him gone, but he has to work! And we have had 2 days now without aftershocks - hope it lasts! Chris has been home for the weekend but is away again this week.Talk soonF :)
Jamie I am so happy to hear from you. I have to admit I was getting worried.
Hey Jamie-I wanted to thank you for your suggested reading thread efforts. However response to these threads overall have been really low, sadly. Deb & I have talked about it and we've decided to let this month be the last month for this feature. I felt like I needed to tell you this "in person" as it seemed the decent thing to do. Please understand this is no reflection on you. Thanks again Jamie-you rule.
We may be too early with the questions...no responses yet, but it is still early.
Awesome. Looks like Deb has already pinned the discussion questions BTW-I am not sure we will get many responses until after the holiday tho. Thanks gain for doing this.
LOL...actaully on Sunday night I picked up "The Last Lecture" to re-read it. There are some things in my life, that I did not invite in and felt I need a brush up on life's lessons and who would be best at that than Randy. When I'm done, I am going to read a mystery/thriller as I've been readina alot of non-fiction lately and need soething to just to let me sit back and relax.
Hi Jamie,Long time, no see! Wow, read your review of Artimis Fowl. I've long intended to read the series, but felt hesitant. really not into the whole fairies thing - that's what they are, yes? Got some good reads for you, though, both by Catherine Ryan Hyde: Chasing Windmills and When I Found You. She's one of my shelfari buddies - search for her if you like? She seems really nice. Luckily, she has heaps of titles, cos when I find an author I like I'll read the lot, then get frustrated that they can't write fast enough to keep up with me! Ha!What's new over there? Hubby about? Mine's been in town 3 weeks now - last week we went down south to Queenstown for South Island Ice Skating Comps - Liam placed 2nd! Can you skate? Is it cold enough to skate outdoors where you are? We had our 1st outdoor skate in Tekapo on the way south. (I skated outdoors in Japan years ago though.)Fiona
I have indeed pinned it. Great choices! It will be interesting to see if our friend can handle Watchmen. Thanks Jamie.
LOL! I'm looking forward to your thread.
As Guest Presenter you get to break all ties with a deciding vote. Congratulations!
You rule. Now you know as I was saying here:http://www.shelfari.com/groups/48124/discussions/241985/July-Common-Book-Discussion----i-Midaq-Alley-i-by-Naguib-Mahfouzyou're pretty much autonomous on this project. So if you don't want to go the voting route and just want to pick a book that is cool. This is your baby.
