Surprisingly, I've enjoyed this book quite a lot, and I cannot explain why. It has practically nothing except straight story, and the story is quite trivial and predictable, but I had a lot of fun reading it nevertheless...

I liked the book for the first 50 pages or so. Then I got more and more annoyed by it.

Too empty, maybe too empty to fill even a short story. A lot of words, almost total lack of meaning behind them. The mentally unstable heroine is not enough to make a good book.

The author also fails to keep her writing in the same style throughout the book.

    Very average space soap opera.

  • Practical Clojure (Expert's Voice in Open Source) 1st (first) edition Text Only
    • Rated 2 stars

Mediocre book. Very messy, quite boring in places if you know a thing or two about functional programming (and probably quite incomprehensible otherwise). Nothing "Practical" in the whole book at all -- all the examples are very unnatural (true gems are using lazy sequences to calculate the given number in an arithmetic progression and macro to do things three times). Also often stock Clojure documentations has more examples which are much more clear.

Nevertheless, if Clojure is not your first functional programming language, the book will provide you with some understanding of what the language is.

Extremely good popular book about Riemann Hypothesis; unlike many “pop-math” books mathematical education neither required nor spoils the fun. Strongly recommended!

Great book by great author. (Of course, I've read it in Russian.)

As it is very usual with Dostoevsky, the point of book is not only in a storyline or in a behavior of main actors; read carefully what everyone says. The words of ordinary people are often full of wisdom.

(I've listened to audiobook.) A-ok childish fantasy. Started really nice but became too trivial closer to the end.

It could be a bit more about compass. (I've listened to audiobook.)

Book about nothing at all. Writing about drug addicts does not automatically means it's literature.
