When I first was looking for a way to catalog my books, I wanted something like Delicious Library, which is unfortunately only available for Mac. I found Shelfari, which was still in beta, LibraryThing, and GoodReads, but Shelfari's visuals were the most like what I wanted, plus I didn't like that whole limits thing. Now there's a new (beta) one called BookLikes, which seems to be very similar to Shelfari... but I love my Shelfari. Some people complain about how you have to meet certain limits to be able to export your book list, but I'm so nit-picky I met all the limits anyway, without having to really try to. And at least you don't have to pay!
I had forgotten you were an English major; that does explain the plethora of "good" / "literary" books on your shelf. ;-) I finagled my way out of an actual English major, so I got off with not reading many "serious" books... which is why my shelf is all chick lit, kids' books, and cookbooks.
