“I've written a couple of biographies for young readers that are about "bad boy" musicians -- you know, guys with criminal records, whose lyrics are too nasty to reprint in the book ... At first the idea of writing about these artists made me sick ... then I started to think about the kids who won't read anything else, but may pick up these books. What do you think -- am I just trying to justify writing about scummy rap stars, OR is there really a need for books like these?”
