Monica Jackson lives on the Land of Oz side of Kansas. She fully embraces diversity (including Wicked Witches, Munchkins, and that goody-two-shoes Glenda, the Good Witch) since she resides on the far edge of the diverse divide too. Monica Jackson’s books, known for quirky humor and attitude, often wander from well-trod plot pathways. She spends far too much time online, and loves bubble baths and avoiding both productive activity and moderation.

Monica wanted to write ever since she could hold a pencil. She had surgery in 1994, the longest time off work (as a registered nurse) she’d ever had in her life. She used the time to write her first novel and sold it to Kensington for the Arabesque line in 1995. In 1997, it finally appeared on the shelves. That book, MIDNIGHT BLUE, was produced as a BET television movie of the week in 2000. Nine novels, and eight novellas and short stories later from that first book, she’s a national bestselling author (says so on the books).  Now, she’s happily dipping her toes in indie waters, hoping soon to be splashing around.

She started out writing African American romance.  She also writes interracial romance with BW (black women) heroines.  She writes women’s fiction and contemporary and paranormal (IR) romance.

Monica has won Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice award for best multicultural romance, and has been nominated for Romantic Times Career Achievement Award, among other accolades. She’s appeared on several radio and television programs, and has given workshop presentations. She has done television spots and has also been featured in a People magazine article, unrelated to her writing, but hey, it counts.
