Douglas H. Gresham is a British biographer and film producer and, most famously, the heir and stepson of C.S. Lewis. He has written
Lenten Lands, an autobiography of his childhood, and
Jack's Life, a personal look at the life and writing of C.S. Lewis from someone who knew him well.
Douglas's mother, Joy Davidman, relocated to England after the divorce with her husband, William Lindsay Gresham. She and C.S. Lewis became friends through correspondance and married in 1956. C.S. Lewis adopted both Douglas and his elder brother David and continued to raise them after the death of their mother from cancer in 1960. When Lewis died, his estate and the rights to the
Chronicles of Narnia went to Douglas and David.
Douglas is the co-producer of the
Chronicles of Narnia theatrical film adaptations and currently lives with his wife, Merrie, in Leighlinbridge, County Carlow, Ireland.
