Overview edit see section history

We don't know much of Álvar Núñez apart from what he wrote about his travels in America in the 16th century. Even the dates of birth I have just included in his personal information are orientative (he was born sometime between 1490 and 1495; he died around 1557-60).

He was the first European to walk across the South of nowadays USA and the North of Mexico, from Florida to the Pacific. He was a captive of the Indians for some time, managed to escape, became a respected quack doctor of the natives...

If he had had some of the stuff of other conquistadores, the fact is that his adventures transformed him spiritually. Although it is not my field of knowledge, probably this figure, besides Bartolomé de las Casas and Núñez de Balboa, was one of the most decent Spaniards to step into America.
