Place of current residence: She lives in a cottage that was built around 1900. It's situated a stone's throw from the junction of the Swan and Helena Rivers in Perth, Western Australia.
Who lives there: Apart from herself, three dogs and a tri-coloured cat.
Family: She's divorced with four grown-up children and two grandchildren.
Education: Arthur Street Primary School and Otago Girls' High School in Dunedin. She has a BA and a B Mus (Hons) from the University of Otago.
She has worked as a teacher and tutor in music at both university and high school level. More recently Juliet has worked in the Australian public service. Her past career also includes singing in opera and conducting choirs.
Her first novel, Daughter of the Forest, was published in 1999. She has been a full time writer since about 2002.
