She thought about being an author when she was five and submitted early efforts to magazines, but they did not get published. When she was twelve she moved to Florida and had a hard time making friends, and this inspired her to write for young adults.
Her book Beastly is being made into a movie with Vanessa Hudgens as Linda and Alex Pettyfer as Kyle.
