Roald Dahl began writing children's books in 1960. Many of his stories were written as entertainment for his children. He told these stories to his chidren, then tried to make them realistic. He made very entertaining books and some were even made into movies, such as Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Fantastic Mr Fox. His first children's book was called The Gremlins. The book was commissioned by Walt Disney but a movie was never made. He won 3 Egdar Awards for writing 3 fantastic books. Rolad Dahl likes to use imagine and loves kids and things that happen to kids in realife! Some of his short stories for adults have been used to create episodes of the popular show Tales From The Crypt.
