“I read Sword of Shannara (and subsequent books) after reading the LOTR series and wanted to try a new fantasy. I love the characters, they are rich and complex. Found it interesting that the "original" world was high tech and destroyed itself , and was able to eventually start anew. MTFRS is right in that truth pivotal. I find it interesting that only the descendants of Shannara are able to wield the "truth".”
“I first read The Sword of Shannara when an aunt gave it to me (I actually still have that book!) That was 25 years ago and I haven't stopped reading them. I am loving reading the lastest when he shows how things came about. They are a little different than the "normal" Shannara world.”
“I was introduced to Terry Brooks' world when I first read the Sword of Shannara when I was in High School. After that, I was hooked. I like the way his characters developed, even the villains. Truth is a pivotal point for this series. I do agree that with the premise, that Truth, as it is, not as we wish it to be is a formidable weapon indeed.”
