Robert H. Lieberman is a long time member of the Physics faculty at Cornell University. Initially he came to Cornell to study to be a veterinarian, but ended up becoming an electrical engineer and doing research in neurophysiology. He has also been professor of mathematics, engineering and the physical sciences and was recently awarded the John M. and Emily B. Clark Award for Distinguished Teaching at Cornell University.
In addition to writing novels, he writes and directs movies. His newest film is "Last Stop Kew Gardens" (http://www.KewGardensmovie.com)the tale of 2nd generation children of survivors (to which he belongs) and which will opened in NYC on April 30th.
He wrote and directed the feature comedy "Green Lights" (http://www.ithacafilms.com) and his documentaries have been shown nationally on PBS. He has been awarded a series of Fulbright Fellowships to lecture at the Academy of Performing Arts and Film in Bratislava and as a resident lecturer with the Mowel Film Fund in Manila.
Mr. Lieberman lives on a 130 acre farm in Ithaca, New York on which he compulsively grows fruits and vegetables and raises fish in his five ponds.
His Swedish born wife is a classical ballet dancer and teacher. He has two sons, one on each coast. They neither farm nor make movies, but do make money, one as a high-flying entrepreneur and the other as an ethical lawyer— at least for the moment.
Mr. Lieberman plans to start working on the film adaption of his novel, “The Last Boy,” which he will direct. He claims he is learning how to tap dance. People often ask him what he’s going to do when he grows up, which is not an unreasonable question.
