My favorite quote from one of her books (pride and prejudice) is, "It is a truth universally aknowleged that a single man in posession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife." she is my absolute most favorite author, I love her stories and how shel relates them to her life.

Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors. I love the way that there is always a happy ending, and so much of a rollercoaster before they get to the happy ending.

I have P&P on my favorite list because I did love the book, but I don't know if it's my favorite Austin book because it's the only one I've read. I'm in the middle of Emma and I can't wait to read the others. I've heard that Emma was her best and I've heard it was the worst, what's your say? Thanks.

does it bother anyone else that darcy's letter to elizabeth further insults her family when he is explaining the jane/bingley relationship? i really love P&P but that is always something that has kind of bugged me...

I think Pride and Prejudice is so commonly loved because it's more well-known, given the BBD mini-series and the more modern movie. Colin Firth and Pride and Prejudice are inextricably interwoven in my mind! Ahh... Mr. Darcy.....

Robin - i also had trouble getting through P&P in the beginning but then maybe 1/5th of the way in i started getting really into it. i'd already seen the movie before i started and i still enjoyed the book.
i suggest you try to get through a little further in the book first and if you still get stuck, watch the movie for inspiration to push you further.

My personal favorite was Persuation. Why is Pride and Prejudice a common favorite?
