Shyft VahtiDahl is a self made, independently promoted novelist and musician born in Stillwater, MN, in 1988. In 2008 he founded Shyfted Minds Records, producing mainly melodic tunes in the styles of Dutch nu-gabber, progressive metal, and avant-garde. His writing style takes a stab at defying the fantasy tradition of shamelessly mimicking and mocking Tolkien and folk tales and the general disregard of consistency often presented by the supernatural plot devices of fantasy and science fiction. "Story tellers," he says, "shouldn't be afraid to take their readers for a ride through something completely foreign, unrecognizable." He refers to his own tales collectively as "fantastical, psychological, character driven, action science fiction with traces of philosophy in an extensive, fully functional Universe."
