I met Stan in the late '80s, and we eventually found ourselves on more than one conference speaking agenda together. Stan was consistently several steps ahead of the rest of the marketing community, seeing the changes before almost anyone else. I was always impressed by his energy and his generosity, as well as his vision. At 73 (I hope I'm correct in recalling this) he became chairman and ceo of McCann Relationship Marketing, a major direct marketing business. I remember calling him to tell him he was my hero, hired to head up a major business at age 73.
