Scott Westerfeld, known as Scott-la to followers of his blog, has written many best-selling books such as the Uglies series and the Leviathan trilogy. His works are generally based around principles of science fiction.

He divides his time between Sydney, Australia and New York City, USA. His book, Evolution's Darling, was a New York Times Notable Book (2000), and won a Special Citation for the 2000 Philip K. Dick Award.

He enjoys interacting with his fans, and has a frequently-updated blog at scottwesterfeld.com.

In 2001, Westerfeld married Australian author, Justine Larbalestier.

So Yesterday has been optioned to be made into a film by one of the producers of Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine. The Uglies series was optioned by Twentieth Century Fox as a possible film series in 2006.
