As a 5th Grade teacher, Christopher Paul Curtis is a gem for the choice of a read aloud. I have read Elijah of Buxton for three years in a row and will continue. As an author he has captured dialect, inner thoughts, and sense of family. He helps children realize that the real stories are behind what they learnH in the textbooks. I love this book because most students know the Underground railroad went to Cananda, but they don't meet the people. Mr. Curtis takes care of that and much more. All his book are in Flint, Michigan.His famous book is Bud not Buddy!
