Walker Newton was born in Tampa, Florida, but left his birthplace at an early age and spent a great deal of his life traveling.

He served in the United States Navy as a submariner before receiving a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from Murray State University. After teaching in a Kentucky juvenile detention facility for three years, he entered the real estate field and worked in all of its facets in many cities throughout the United States. He and a partner eventually formed their own hotel development company. When that company was sold, he retired to northeast Florida where he remains actively involved in real estate.

He is the father of twin daughters and he has two grandchildren. He currently resides on Anastasia Island, near St. Augustine. He remains an enthusiastic domestic and international traveler, and continues to write both songs and fiction.
