I love to write because I love to read. I cut my teeth on such authors as Mary Stewart, John Dickson Carr (I'm a mystery buff too), and Zane Grey, stealing them out of my parent's library and devouring very word. I still read voraciously, and think my job is one of the best in the world.
When asked what I do for a living, I smile and say, "I sit and dream all day."
Sounds nice, doesn't it?
Oh, yes, it isn't perfect and there are lots of practical aspects of the writing life that have to be addressed. Reality intrudes on everything, even writing novels, but it is still a dream come true. I especially enjoy Regency because of the polite strictures of the time. What a pleasure to have wicked gentlemen in a time when gentlemen are supposed to be anything but wicked, and improper ladies when any transgression could cost them their reputation.
I hope you enjoy.
