Hometown:
 Living in California
Place of Birth:
Born in New York but raised in "the valley of heart's delight"-- San Jose.
Church Affiliation:
I attend a nondenominational church and just love it. The focus is on
loving others as Christ loved us.

Number of Years Writing:
 I've been writing 20 years.
List of Other Publications and Year Published:
I wrote a book for the state (Calif. SeaGrant) on aquaculture and articles for local papers, then went into advertising copy.I've written for Woman's World three times (health related articles), Guideposts, Angels on Earth, Today's Christian Woman, the San Jose Mercury News (another award winning publication!), the Gilroy Dispatch etc. The above publications were all within the last five years, along with the eight novels I finished for Tyndale House in the past 3 years, in which Abby has the same nerve disorder that I have--CMT. (We've sold about 70,000 books, and set records at the local Costco booksignings, in which we sold 575 in one afternoon. My hope was to reach the unchurched kids, and God has been so gracious to us!) Because my book heroine has this disease, Abby and I are the subject of articles in the Muscular Dystrophy Association's national magazine in their Dec. issue of "Quest." For years I tried to get someone interested in an article on CMT, since it's so little known yet is the most common peripheral nerve disorder (inherited) in the world and affects all people groups. (Dennis Rainey's--Family Life Today Ministry--son, Samuel, has it too.) It's funny that the only way I could get the word out was through my character and myself! But the neat thing that's resulted is the fan mail I get from readers who are struggling with physical problems, like Abby: a little girl who's leg was cut off in a farm accident, another with heart problems, another reader who's partially paralyzed. It's a blessing to get to write back and encourage my penpals! One little girl wrote that she wants to be as brave as Abby and someday become a missionary. (wow) My 12-year-old has inherited some great friends this way too--one all the way in Australia.
Education:
first trained as a science writer at the
University of California at Santa Cruz, where I also got my B.A. in Biology.
Employment:
I wrote a book for the state (Calif. SeaGrant) on aquaculture and articles for local papers, then went into advertising copy and became an account exec. for a Bay Area firm.
Family:
My husband of 18 years and I have been
super-blessed with two daughters who bring our hearts continual delight.
They are now heading into the teen years.
