John Dickson began his career as a singer/songwriter touring and recording for seven years, playing in universities, pubs, schools and prisons. For two years he hosted a national music TV show, Swordfish (Network 10), reviewing music and interviewing guests. He gave it away to focus on academic studies.

John gained an honours degree in theology from Moore Theological College (Sydney) (http://www.moore.edu.au/) and a Ph.D. in ancient history from Macquarie University (Sydney) where he is now an Honorary Associate of the Department of Ancient History (http://www.anchist.mq.edu.au/). He also teaches a course on the major world religions for the Macquarie Christian Studies Institute.

His first book appeared in 1993 and he has since produced a dozen best-selling titles and an academic monograph on the origins of Christianity. His popular works focus on the modern relevance of the historic faith.

A former Anglican minister, John is now Director of the Centre for Public Christianity (http://www.publicchristianity.org/), an independent research and media organization which aims to promote the public understanding of the Christian faith employing the best of scholarship via the best of media.

His book The Christ Files has now become a major TV documentary (http://thechristfiles.com.au/), which was shown on Channel 7 in March 2008. John is currently working on another documentary titled simply Life of Jesus, due out in early 2009.

John values his family role above all others. He lives in Sydney with his wife and three children.
