Dr. Betty Edwards, art teacher and author, is best known for her books Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain published in 1979 and Drawing on the Artist Within published in 1986.  She received a Bachelor's in Art from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1947; a Master's of Art from California State University, Northridge and a Doctorate in Art, Education and Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1978.  At the time of her retirement in 1991 she was Professor Emeritus in Art at California State University in Long Beach, California where she had taught since 1978.  Profiles of Dr. Edwards have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Seattle Times, Reader's Digest, Time magazine, New York magazine and Intuition magazine.  She has spoken about the relationship of drawing to brain processes at art schools, universities and major corporations.  She has also used her unique insights into art and the brain to act as a consultant with national and international corporations to improve creative problem solving.
