Received the Prix Renaudot in 2007 for his essay Chagrin d'école.
A teacher, who began to write for children and then wrote the series “La Saga Malaussène”, telling the story of Benjamin Malaussène, a scapegoat, and his family in Belleville, Paris.
His writing style is indeed humorous and imaginative, but can also be quite serious, as in Comme un roman, a pedagogic essay on the pleasure and commandments of reading.
