Dr. Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson is an American author living in New Zealand. He's Honorary Fellow Teacher at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Auckland in new Zealand. He studied Sanskrit at Harvard University, and was awarded a PhD with honors in 1970. Whilw at Harvard, he wrote an autobiographical book: "My Father's Guru: A Journey Through Spirituality and Disillusion". Masson is best known for his conclusions about Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis. In his book "The Assault on Truth", Masson argues that Freud may have abandoned his seduction theory because he feared that granting the truth of his female patients' claims that they had been sexually abused would hinder the acceptance of his psychoanalytic methods.
He is a vegan and has written several books animal emotions and rights.
