London-born C J Moran was educated at Wimbledon College and worked in the London insurance market for many years.
Even before Apollo 11, he had been bewitched by science fiction through Bleep and Booster, Doctor Who and Star Trek.
He first started writing in the 1980s, though his first efforts were straight thrillers.
