I have always had a deep interest in literature and in my youth penned many a short story or poem. College put a damper on my creative streak when I pursued a degree in biology. Bogged down in the mundane necessity of dispelling facts, figures and theory, writing took on a new course in the continuous out flux of required scientific papers and reports. Now, as a stay at home mother of three children, I have finally gotten the chance to actually make a true attempt at putting down some of the numerous plots and characters that have always been lurking in the back of my mind.

When I'm feeling relaxed I just want to write stories that are edgy, exciting and above all entertaining. The type of novel that takes you on an adventure that keeps you turning the pages and staying up way past your bed time. It's when I'm in this sort of mood that I find myself writing modern day romantic suspense series. What I end up with is an interesting group of characters that will have you laughing, crying, biting your nails and shaking your head at them as they transverse the overabundance of obstacles that I throw in their path on their journey. This is the type of book that I want to curl up with on a rainy day, read from beginning to end, and come away smiling.

The majority of the time, however, I find myself wanting to escape to an entirely different world. One that is slightly darker, with vivid settings and perilous dangers and, of course, mystical creatures that are not just there to provide a sense of the fantastical, but play a key role in the dynamics of the visionary world that I've created.

One of my favorite parts of creating these worlds is throwing my characters into situations that seem hopeless and dire and watch them claw their way out of the perils they face. And though the story may lead them through hardship and turmoil, in the end it is their all too human hearts that show them the way to success.

No matter what genre I'm currently working on, all my stories strive for rich settings, engrossing plots and dynamic characters. Those set in our own world will bring you no further away than a town or city similar to your own, others will take you to a realm that is fantastically dissimilar to our own. But no matter where your preferences lie, I hope that you will find yourself swept up in the story and on the adventure of a lifetime.
