Will Elliott's debut novel, The Pilo Family Circus was published in 2006 after winning the ABC Fiction Award and went on to win the Golden Aurealis for best novel, the Australian Shadows Award, the Ditmar, the Sydney Morning Herald "Best Young Novelist Award" for 2007, and was short-listed for the 2007 International Horror Guild Award.
Elliott developed schizophrenia at age twenty, forcing him to abandon his law degree. After publishing his first book, he was later asked if the book was at all autobiographical due to the main character's struggle with his alter ego. In response Elliott published his memoir, Strange Places which deals with his experience of schizophrenia and his subsequent involvement in writing. It was released in Australia in 2009.
He is currently working on a dark fantasy series called The Pendulum Trilogy. Books one (Pilgrims) and two ( Shadow) are now available in Australia.
He was born, and currently lives in, Brisbane, Australia.
