Keith Walker is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. He enjoys reading, poetry, and music of all genres. Keith currently works in administration at one of the city’s largest hospitals. He lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife and two children.
When asked "Why do you write," Keith had the following response:
"My earliest memories of writing came in the fifth grade. Our teacher asked the class to write a poem about anything we wished. My poem was called, Man of the House, and it was about a young boy who had to attend a funeral. Powerful emotions stirred within him as he looked upon his father in a coffin, and when the boy got home, he saw that he finally caught a mouse he’d been setting traps for. That, plus his father’s death, helped the child understand that he was now the man of the house.
"A few days after I turned the poem in, my teacher held me after class. She was close to tears, and she wanted to apologize to me for the pain I had endured since losing my father. She was very surprised when I told her my father was actually still alive and everything in the poem was made up. She told me I had a gift for writing, and I embraced her words because, even at such an early age, writing gave me the most enjoyment in life. Throughout middle school and high school I won every award available for poems and short stories, and I always knew I would write novels as an adult. Not writing was never a choice or consideration for me."
