About Me ...
I love humor and romance and shoes and ... hmm, it seems I'm a girl. Yes, I'm a typical girl except for all that PMS drama - I have blissfully escaped it all my life. I am terribly even-tempered, yet quite demanding. I am a Mom to a rambunctious toddler. I seem to wear more hats than any hat rack could hold - Mom, writer, part-time project controller, part-time loan officer, manager of two beach rental properties, president of the local MOMS Club, and now apparently a blogger too. Incidentally, I have absolutely no professional writing training or credits prior to Reunion so if you hate my work, I've got a good excuse, but if you like my work, then I must actually have some talent.
About Reunion ...
Reunion was my debut novel. It is currently self-published so if any agents or publishers happen to be reading this, please contact me (jl.penn@live.com). I am very honored to have Reunion appear on the exclusive High Raters page at ChickLitClub.com. With an 8/10 review, Reunion sits in good company amidst bestselling authors like Emily Giffin, Sarah Strohmeyer, Helen Fielding, Marian Keyes, and Sophie Kinsella. Additionally, Samantha Robey of ChickLitPlus.com said she "can't say enough praises about this book." Clare Tanner of the Book Habit Show called Reunion "uber contemporary ... highly marketable ... a real page turner." The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive from reviewers, consumers, and peers alike, and I greatly appreciate each and every one of them.
About The Cinderella Curse ...
The Cinderella Curse is currently available only on the Kindle at a ridiculously low price point ($0.99), as it is a novella. And if you don't have a Kindle, now you can get Kindle for the PC - very cool! It's purely entertaining irreverent humor, and a good taste of my writing roots. I have been super pleased with the positive response thus far. Two words have been springing up over and over to describe this story: fresh and unique. I'll take it!
About Miss Taken Identity ...
Miss Taken Identity is a novel in the works. A brief synopsis and a couple draft teaser chapters are posted on my website. It will be released sometime in 2010.
About a Reunion sequel ...
I have been asked about this since the first person read Reunion. At first I had no good answer because I was just thrilled to have written a novel! I also do not care to write for the sake of writing - it's a quality control thing and one of the few luxuries of being a self-published author. Nearly a year after I started writing Reunion, the inspiration for a sequel hit me. Unfortunately, it hit me around the same time as the inspiration for Miss Taken Identity. Since the latter story was more fleshed out in my head, it took writing precedence. But yes, a sequel to Reunion is planned.
About everything else ...
I have a series in mind but insufficient time to start writing it. Maybe if I could quit my day job to write more .... but I digress.
I am on Twitter and Facebook, and I also have a blog (jlpenn.blogspot.com), so please follow me! I love to hear from readers.
