Famed for portraying the flavor of New Mexico through exquisite prose and wondrous storytelling, Rudolfo Anaya has been hailed as the father of Chicano literature in English. The winner of the PEN Center West Award for Fiction for his novel, Albuquerque, he is perhaps best known for his bestseller Bless Me, Ultima, which won the Premio Quinto Sol national Chicano literary award. His other works include Zia Summer, Rio Grande Fall, Jalamanta, Tortuga, Heart of Aztlan, Anaya Reader, and his most recent mystery novel, Shaman Winter.

A professor emeritus of English at the University of New Mexico, Mr. Anaya has also written short stories, essays, and children's books.
